Maryland Delegate Faces Money and Misconduct Charges

A Maryland state delegate has been hit with three campaign finance cases after reporters looked into his spending habits. The charges come from the state prosecutor's office and concern money used for meals, trips, cash withdrawals and even a casino visit. The lawmaker is a Democrat from Anne Arundel County.

His campaign reported raising about twenty-eight thousand dollars in 2025 and spending nearly twenty-six thousand of that. State rules say campaign money cannot be spent as cash; it must go out by check or an approved electronic method. The allegations say his campaign broke those rules by using cash and not following proper disbursement steps.

When asked, the delegate said he believed his work was a calling and that the expenses were for his campaign. He promised to pay back any money if it turned out he was wrong. He also claimed the questioning was a politically motivated attack by a fellow Democrat he refused to name.

Besides the finance cases, he is dealing with several local infractions in his county and a second-degree criminal assault accusation involving a relative. He told reporters he would keep doing his job and stay accountable.
