Maryland is in for a calm start to the week after a windy Sunday. The state saw some rain and wintry mix on Sunday, but it was mostly dry. The winds have calmed down, and the weather is settling into a more peaceful pattern.
Monday and Tuesday are looking up! Expect a mix of sun and clouds, with high pressure controlling the weather. Temperatures will be typical for mid-January, with highs in the low to mid 40s. It will be cooler in the mountains, where temperatures will hover in the 30s.
The wind direction will shift, bringing milder air from the south. This means Tuesday and Wednesday will be warmer, with temperatures climbing closer to 50°.
But don't get too comfortable. A couple of cold fronts are heading our way mid-week. Wednesday will be cloudier with a chance of rain showers. Thursday could be a First Alert Weather day, with rain possibly turning to snow later in the day and into early Friday. While it doesn't look like a major event for Baltimore, some snow accumulation is still possible.
Another potential wintry system is being monitored for the weekend. Stay tuned for updates.
After the warm-up, colder air will return on Thursday, with highs dropping back into the 30s.
