Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) recently made masks mandatory again in certain areas due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the community. Starting immediately, masks became a requirement in all inpatient units, the Emergency Department, the Urgent Care Centre, and the Children’s Outpatient Clinic. Even where masks aren't required, individuals choosing to wear a mask will be supported. The hospital has stated that anyone entering clinical areas and the hospital overall will need to wear a mask. Staff will also wear masks when caring for masked patients, even if it’s not a mandatory area. Visitors with symptoms of infection must delay their visit until they feel better. But if a caregiver, like a child's parent or family of a terminally ill patient, must be present, they must wear a mask from the moment they enter the hospital. "Safety is our top concern, " KHSC emphasized, thanking everyone for following rules meant to prevent virus spread. This includes screening processes, masking rules, and visitor limitations. It's a team effort to keep everyone safe and healthy.
