Mason Marchment is on the move again. This time, he's heading to the Columbus Blue Jackets from the Seattle Kraken. The trade involved a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. The latter pick originally came from the New York Rangers.
Marchment, who is 30 years old, has been playing well this season. He has 13 points in 29 games so far. This includes four goals and nine assists. He was previously traded to Seattle by the Dallas Stars back in June for two draft picks.
The Columbus general manager, Don Waddell, is happy to have Marchment on the team. He thinks Marchment will bring a lot to the table. Waddell described him as a physical player who is tough and can score goals. He also mentioned that the team is excited to have him.
Marchment is in the last year of his contract. He signed a four-year, $18 million deal with the Dallas Stars in 2022. After this season, he will be a free agent. This means he can sign with any team he wants.
Throughout his career, Marchment has played for four different teams. He has scored 202 points in 331 games. This includes 80 goals and 122 assists. He has played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, and Seattle Kraken.
