Matthew Perry’s Mom Shares Touching Last Moments
Los Angeles, USAFri Oct 25 2024
Almost a year after Matthew Perry’s passing, his mom, Suzanne Morrison, opened up about their final days together. In a special chat with Savannah Guthrie, Morrison recalled a sweet moment where Perry showed her one of his new homes. He told her, “I love you so much, and I’m so happy to be with you now. ” This conversation, which almost seemed like a premonition, stuck with her. Morrison felt there was an inevitability about what was coming for her son, but she was worried when he said he wasn’t scared anymore.
Perry, who was an only child, lived through some tough times. His parents, Suzanne Morrison and John Bennett Perry, got divorced, and both remarried. Suzanne went on to have four more kids with “Dateline” correspondent Keith Morrison, while John had one child with his second wife.
Perry died on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54, in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that he died from an overdose of ketamine. Ketamine is a powerful drug that can be used for therapy but also has hallucinogenic effects. The autopsy report showed that Perry had been clean for 19 months before his death.
This September, prosecutors in Los Angeles accused Perry of unsupervised ketamine use and addiction. Five people, including his assistant and doctors, were charged for allegedly taking advantage of his condition to profit themselves. U. S. Attorney Martin Estrada stated that these individuals knew they were putting Perry at risk but did it anyway.
Shortly after the charges, Perry’s family expressed that while they are heartbroken, they are glad law enforcement is taking his case seriously. They hope justice will be served.
