Measles Cases Rise in Utah: What You Need to Know
Utah, Salt Lake City, USAThu Jun 26 2025
Utah is seeing more cases of measles. Health officials just found two more people with the disease. This makes the total number of cases in the state five.
One of the new cases is a child, and the other is an adult. They live in different parts of Utah. One is from Utah County, and the other is from the southwest health district.
Two of the five people with measles had to go to the hospital. They are now better and have been released. Two of the people who got sick are pregnant women. They did not get the measles vaccine.
This news comes just days after two other people were diagnosed with measles. They also live in Utah County and the southwest health district.
One of the first people who got sick went to public places before they knew they had measles. They visited the Timpanogos Regional Emergency Room and the Parkway Health Center in Orem.
Measles symptoms start with a high fever, cough, runny nose, or red eyes. These symptoms show up seven to 14 days after someone is exposed to the virus. A rash usually appears a few days later.
If you think you have been exposed to measles or have symptoms, call your doctor first. Do not go to the clinic without calling. This helps stop the spread of the disease.
Most people in Utah have been vaccinated against measles. More than 90% of Utahns are protected. Measles can be very serious, especially for young children, pregnant women, and people with weak immune systems.
