Medical Schools Under Scrutiny for Possible Race‑Based Admissions

The U. S. Justice Department has started investigations into 15 medical schools. It wants to see if these schools are using race unfairly when choosing students. The probes focus on how the schools treat applicants from different backgrounds. Each of the institutions gets large amounts of federal money, so they must follow rules set by a Supreme Court ruling.
