Mental Health Matters: Hoboken Students Get the Scoop
Hoboken, New Jersey, USA,Wed May 14 2025
Mental health is a big deal, and Hoboken High School is stepping up to make sure students know it. May is all about raising awareness for mental health. So, the school organized an outdoor fair to introduce students to various resources that can support their well-being. This wasn't just about handing out pamphlets. It was about giving students a chance to engage with different groups and learn about what's out there to help them.
The fair took place on the high school's athletic fields. Students had the chance to grab some healthy snacks and lunch while they were at it. Groups like Hudson County NAMI and Best Buddies were there to share their services. From outdoor activities to counseling and support groups, there was a lot to explore.
The School-Based Youth Services Program (SBYSP) at Hoboken High School was the mastermind behind this event. They wanted to make sure that every student got a chance to participate in activities that focused on mental well-being. The goal was to break down the stigma around mental health and build awareness. Students got to experience this during their PE periods at Louis M. Taglieri Stadium.
The event was a great way to get students thinking about their mental health. It's important to remember that taking care of your mind is just as crucial as taking care of your body. By providing these resources and opportunities, Hoboken High School is helping students understand that it's okay to seek help and that there are people and groups ready to support them.
The fair was a success in getting students to think critically about their mental health. It's not just about knowing what resources are available; it's about understanding how to use them. By engaging with different groups and learning about their services, students can make informed decisions about their well-being. This event was a step in the right direction for Hoboken High School and its students.
