Meta's Big Brain Boost: Who's Joining the AI Squad?
USATue Jul 01 2025
Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, recently shared some big news with his team. He introduced a new group of smart folks joining Meta's AI team. These aren't just any folks; they're some of the brightest minds from other top AI companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.
Over the last few months, Zuckerberg has been working hard to bring in the best AI talent. Meta has even invested a huge amount of money, $14. 3 billion, into a company called Scale AI. The CEO of Scale AI, Alexandr Wang, is now leading Meta's new Superintelligence Labs.
In a memo, Zuckerberg explained that Meta is creating something called Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL). This new lab will focus on developing advanced AI models. Meta didn't comment further on this news.
The memo also introduced Nat Friedman, the former CEO of GitHub, who will be working with Wang. Together, they will lead the new lab, focusing on AI products and research.
The memo listed all the new hires, but it's interesting to note that it didn't include the employees who joined from OpenAI's Zurich office. This makes you wonder why they were left out.
This move by Meta shows how serious they are about AI. They are investing a lot of money and bringing in top talent to stay ahead in the AI race. It's clear that AI is the future, and Meta wants to be at the forefront.
