Meta's Latest Smart Glasses: A Leap in Tech for Sports Enthusiasts
Meta has introduced a new pair of smart glasses designed specifically for sports lovers, called the Oakley Meta Vanguard. These glasses come packed with innovative features that set them apart from previous models.
Design and Camera Features
The Vanguard boasts a wraparound shape, a departure from Meta's earlier designs. The camera is now positioned above the nose bridge rather than on the edge, offering a more streamlined look. This camera supports 3K resolution photos and videos, features a wide-angle lens, and can capture slow-motion footage. Additionally, image stabilization ensures smooth, steady videos.
Audio and Voice Commands
The glasses are equipped with powerful speakers that are louder than those in previous models, making them ideal for outdoor activities like running or biking. They also include five microphones to ensure clear voice calls. Users can utilize voice commands to take photos, check the weather, or even identify objects in their view.
Battery Life and Durability
The Vanguard offers an impressive battery life of up to nine hours on a single charge. The included charging case provides an additional 27 hours of power. For quick charging, a 20-minute charge can restore 50% battery life. The glasses also come with three interchangeable nose pads for a comfortable fit and have an IP67 rating, making them resistant to dust and water.
Action Button and Availability
The action button for capturing photos or videos has been moved to the underside of the temple, making it easily accessible even while wearing a helmet or hat. The Oakley Meta Vanguard is now available for purchase at $499 (or £499 in the U.K.) and comes in black or white frames with reflective lenses.
