Mexico’s Leader Accuses U. S. Groups of Working Against Her Government
Mexico City,Tue Jun 02 2026
Mexico’s president has been speaking out against what she calls an organized effort by certain U. S. groups to weaken her government. She points to far-right factions in America as the main force behind recent tensions, claiming they want to damage relations with Mexico for political reasons. At a news conference, she made it clear she doesn’t think the U. S. president is personally behind these moves. Still, the disagreements between the two countries have grown since the U. S. leader returned to office earlier this year.
The biggest clash lately came after the U. S. charged several Mexican officials, including a governor from the ruling party, with links to drug trafficking. This led Mexico’s president to double down on protecting national pride. At a recent event, she asked who really controls Mexico—local leaders or outside forces. Her answer? Mexico will stand strong on its own. The government even passed a new law that could cancel elections if foreign influence is suspected. Critics say this could be used to overturn votes if the ruling party loses.
Despite the drama on the world stage, things look good for her at home. Recent polling shows her approval rating at nearly 70%, bouncing back from a small dip earlier in the year. That means most people inside Mexico still support her, even as fights with the U. S. heat up.
