Michigan is in for a rough ride with winter weather. The National Weather Service has put out warnings and advisories, even though the big storm is moving away. Snow showers are expected to ease up later in the morning but will pick up again in the afternoon and continue into Wednesday. Parts of northwest Lower and eastern Upper Michigan could see an extra 4 to 8 inches of snow, with some areas getting even more. Several counties in the eastern Upper Peninsula and northwest Lower Peninsula are under a winter weather advisory. These include Antrim, Charlevoix, Crawford, Kalkaska, Otsego, Grand Traverse, Wexford, Benzie, Emmet, Leelanau, Manistee, and Chippewa. People in these areas should expect 2 to 8 inches of snow, which means roads will be slippery. This will make the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes especially tricky.
The Great Lakes are also feeling the impact. There is a freezing spray warning for Lake Huron and Lake Superior because of rapid ice buildup on boats. Additionally, a small craft advisory and gale warning are in place for Lake Huron due to high waves, reaching up to 19 feet. This winter weather is not just an inconvenience; it's a reminder of how powerful nature can be. It's important for people to stay informed and take precautions to stay safe during these hazardous conditions.
