Redmond, USASun Oct 27 2024
Microsoft has been making headlines for laying off over 2, 500 gaming division workers this year. Meanwhile, the company's CEO, Satya Nadella, received a massive $79 million bonus. This bonus is a significant increase from last year's $48. 5 million. The company, now worth a staggering $3 trillion, attributes this success to investments in AI and dominance in workplace software like Excel. The question remains: why isn't some of this extra money being used to retain talented employees and support innovative game development?
For now, gaming enthusiasts should look forward to new releases in 2024 and beyond. But it's hard not to wonder if the company's priorities are aligned with its workforce and the gaming community.
