Midwest Nationals Highlights: Who Took the Wins
The NHRA Midwest Nationals took place in Madison, Illinois, at the World Wide Technology Raceway. It was the seventeenth round of the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series. In the Top Fuel class, Shawn Langdon grabbed the win with a run of 3.732 seconds and a speed of 335.90 miles per hour. He beat Will Smith, who finished in 4.024 seconds at 269.03 mph. Other top finishers included Justin Ashley, Shawn Reed, and Tony Stewart.
In Funny Car, Austin Prock drove his Ford Mustang to victory, clocking 3.909 seconds and reaching 332.84 mph. He edged out Jordan Vandergriff in a Chevy Camaro, who ran 3.926 seconds at 325.37 mph. Jack Beckman and Matt Hagan also made the top four. Over in Pro Stock, Aaron Stanfield won with a Chevy Camaro, posting 6.556 seconds and 209.20 mph, narrowly ahead of his brother Greg Stanfield, who ran 6.547 seconds at 209.85 mph. Dallas Glenn and Troy Coughlin Jr. rounded out the top five.
Gaige Herrera took the Pro Stock Motorcycle title on a Suzuki, covering the distance in 6.710 seconds at 200.98 mph, defeating Richard Gadson, who finished in 6.763 seconds at 200.08 mph. The event also featured other categories: Christopher Dodd won Competition Eliminator in a Chevy Cobalt with 8.286 seconds and 133.33 mph; Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. took Super Stock in a Pontiac Firebird at 9.359 seconds and 127.78 mph; Johnny Diekema claimed Stock Eliminator in a Chevy Corvette with 9.719 seconds and 137.44 mph.
Early round highlights included Tony Stewart beating Josh Hart in the first Top Fuel round, and Jasmine Salinas posting a quick 3.716‑second run. In Funny Car, Spencer Hyde got an early win over Chad Green, while Alexis DeJoria moved past Bobby Bode. These opening duels set the stage for the later showdowns that decided the final winners.
