Minnesota Search Intensifies for Shooting Suspect
Sibley County, Minnesota, USASun Jun 15 2025
In the heart of Minnesota, a tense situation is unfolding. An urgent alert has been issued for a section of Sibley County. This alert comes after law enforcement discovered a vehicle linked to the suspect in the recent Minnesota lawmaker shootings. The suspect, 57-year-old Vance Boelter, remains at large as the search enters its second day.
The vehicle was spotted near the intersection of Minnesota Highway 25 and 301st Avenue in Faxon Township. This discovery has led to a heightened search operation, with law enforcement visiting homes in the vicinity. Residents are advised to keep their doors locked and their vehicles secure.
The incident began early on June 14, around 2 a. m. , when a 911 call reported shots fired at the home of Minnesota Sen. Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Both were injured and are currently recovering from surgery. Yvette's quick thinking saved her child from harm.
Later that morning, around 3:35 a. m. , Brooklyn Park police encountered the suspect near Rep. Hortman's home. The suspect, dressed as an officer and driving a fake police vehicle, opened fire but fled the scene. Authorities found a manifesto in his vehicle, listing lawmakers' names and papers with "No Kings" written on them.
The situation escalated quickly. A shelter-in-place alert was issued at 5:30 a. m. for a 3-mile radius around the Edinburgh Golf Course. Around 9:45 a. m. , Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz announced the tragic news of Rep. Hortman and her husband's deaths. The governor also expressed cautious optimism about the Hoffmans' recovery.
Boelter's actions did not stop there. He briefly returned to a home in Minneapolis, where he rented a room part-time. He texted roommates, hinting at his involvement and possible fate. His wife was also involved in a traffic stop near Onamia that morning.
Boelter's background adds another layer to the story. He was appointed to a nonpartisan workforce development board by Gov. Mark Dayton in 2016 and reappointed by Gov. Walz in 2019. His term expired in 2023.
The search for Boelter has been extensive. Law enforcement in Green Isle sent tactical units to a home near his residence. The FBI has even offered a $50, 000 reward for information leading to his arrest. As of 7 a. m. on June 15, the manhunt continues, with no sign of the suspect.
This event raises important questions about security for public officials and the broader implications of political violence. It also highlights the community's resilience and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to ensure public safety.
