Mishap at Scottsdale Skyport: Plane Collision Claims Life
Tue Feb 11 2025
A deadly incident unfolded near Scottsdale Airport in Arizona Monday. Rescue teams rushed to the scene after a mid-sized jet veered off the runway and smashed into a parked plane. The crash happened around 2:39 p. m. and, unfortunately, it was too late for one person by the time emergency services arrived.
The jet in question, a Learjet 35A, was attempting to land when it strayed from the runway and collided with a Gulfstream 200, a business jet, that was parked nearby. The parked jet was on private property adjacent to the airport.
The FAA quickly stepped in to halt all flights at the airport as the investigation began. Three individuals were injured. Two were rushed to nearby trauma centers, but their conditions were not immediately disclosed. The third person was stable, although it is unclear what injuries they were dealing with.
A spokesperson for the airport described the aircraft as "midsize business jets, " and the incident as "an active scene. "
The cause of the collision? That's still up in the air. Investigators are working to figure out the reason behind the collision.
