Rhode Island, Providence, USAWed Oct 02 2024
Even though autumn is here, don't let your guard down against those pesky mosquitoes in Rhode Island. Recently, health officials found that some mosquitoes are still carrying serious diseases like Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) and West Nile Virus. Even though they're less active when temperatures dip below 58 degrees, they can still be around when it gets to the 50s and 60s overnight, as has been happening lately.
So, what should you do? State officials advise limiting your time in mosquito-prone areas and using EPA-approved insect repellents to prevent bites. Dressing in long sleeves can also help protect you.
