Del Toro, known for his roles in movies like "Traffic" and "Sicario," believes that politicans often use hot topics like immigration to gain support. He stressed that most people looking to migrate to America are doing so to improve their lives due to tough conditions in their home countries. He also emphasized that while borders should be respected, it's wrong to label entire groups as bad people. Del Toro sees politics as a complex and difficult game. He stated, "There's a lot of people suffering because of it. It has to be put in check. " He trusts that the younger generation will play a crucial role in shaping the future. When asked about his upcoming projects, del Toro mentioned working with director Paul Thomas Anderson on "The Phoenician Scheme" and "The Battle of Baktan Cross," where he will star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn. On the topic of streaming platforms dominating the entertainment industry, del Toro welcomes the change. He feels that this opens up more opportunities for people interested in film and storytelling. However, he still prefers the traditional theater experience for watching movies. He finds feature-length films more engaging and admits he wouldn't have the attention span for a long miniseries. Yet, he acknowledges the success of streaming services and has even participated in them, such as the miniseries "Escape at Dannemora" and the movie "Reptile" on Netflix. Del Toro concluded that the rise of streaming can't be stopped, especially with younger generations preferring it. However, he still enjoys going to the movies and wishes audiences could experience films together in theaters.
