MSMEs Call for Better Occupational Health

Small businesses are struggling to provide their employees with the right healthcare services. This is a major issue, especially in a world where climate change, technology, and demographics are all affecting how we live and work. To understand what's going on, researchers looked at studies on small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and their needs for occupational health services.

They searched through many databases, including Embase, Pub Med, Scopus, and Web of Science. They also looked at the references of the studies they found. The goal was to see what MSMEs need to provide good occupational health services. The researchers wanted to know what kind of culture, knowledge, and resources are needed to keep employees healthy.

The search turned up 1,252 sources, but only 17 were included in the study. These studies used different methods, like qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods approaches. The researchers found five main categories of needs, with fourteen subcategories. MSMEs need a collaborative culture, where employees feel heard and supported. They also need knowledge and training to help employees stay healthy. And they need the right resources, like time, money, and technical support, to make it all work.

The study shows that MSMEs are struggling to provide the right healthcare services. They need help from governments and other organizations to make it easier for them to keep their employees healthy. By understanding what MSMEs need, we can start to make changes and improve occupational health services for everyone.
