Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has undergone a significant change in public perception. Gone are the days when he was viewed as a champion of environmental causes, working tirelessly to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Instead, his name has become synonymous with right-wing politics, and his image has taken a drastic turn.
A recent poll conducted by Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies reveals the extent of this shift. Among Democrats, a staggering 6% reported having positive feelings towards Musk, while a whopping 79% had negative feelings. Republicans, on the other hand, were overwhelmingly in his corner, with 62% expressing positive sentiments and only 14% having negative ones. Independents were more divided, with 31% having positive feelings and 36% having negative ones.
It's clear that Musk's association with Donald Trump and his Republican politics has had a profound impact on his public image. As Jeff Horwitt, a partner at Hart Research Associates, put it, "If you didn't see the name and you just saw the numbers, you'd say he looks like a typical national Republican politician. " This shift in perception has left Musk's brand in disarray, with many viewing him as a "damaged" figure.
