The Hague, NetherlandsWed Jun 25 2025
NATO leaders gathered in The Hague to talk about spending more on defense. This comes as Russia keeps pushing hard in Ukraine. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wasn't in the main room. He was on the sidelines, meeting leaders one by one.
Zelenskyy had a busy day before the big meeting. He got promises of help from the Netherlands, like new drones and radars. The UK also stepped up, offering 350 air defense missiles. This aid is partly paid for by money from seized Russian assets.
Meanwhile, U. S. President Donald Trump had some harsh words about Zelenskyy. He said, \"Well, we’ll discuss the obvious. We’ll discuss his difficulty. He’s got a little difficulty, Zelenskyy. \" Trump's government has also blocked Ukraine's bid to join NATO.
Russia's actions in Ukraine have been brutal. They've destroyed towns and killed thousands. Just last week, they launched a huge drone attack on Kyiv. The International Criminal Court has even issued a warrant for Putin, accusing him of war crimes.
Zelenskyy didn't just sit around. He kept busy, meeting leaders and making sure Ukraine stayed on their minds. Later, he headed to France to work on plans for a new international court. This court will go after Russian leaders for starting the war.
