NBA Free Agency: Who's Left on the Market?
USAWed Jul 02 2025
NBA free agency is already shaking things up. Some big names have already signed new deals, but there are still plenty of talented players available. Let's take a look at the top 10 free agents still on the market.
Damian Lillard is the most surprising name on this list. He's a seven-time All-NBA player and a nine-time All-Star, but he's about to turn 35 and just tore his Achilles. He's expected to miss most, if not all, of next season. Despite this, he's still getting paid $112. 6 million over the next two years. He's not in a hurry to make a decision, and he may not sign with a team until next summer to help with their cap situation.
Josh Giddey is expected to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls. He's become the hub of the offense in Chicago, averaging 21. 2 points, 10. 7 rebounds, and 9. 3 assists per game after the All-Star break. The only questions are how many years and how much money he'll get.
Jonathan Kuminga is a young, athletic player who averaged 15. 3 points a game last season. He's coming off his rookie deal, and the Warriors may not be able to keep him. A sign-and-trade is possible, but it's complicated. He could end up back with the Warriors, but it's not a sure thing.
Cam Thomas is a great option for a team looking for a scorer off the bench. He averaged 24 points a game last season in Brooklyn, but he's not the most efficient scorer. The Nets hold his rights and are willing to discuss a sign-and-trade deal, or he could just end up back in Brooklyn.
Mo Wagner is a solid backup center who averaged 12. 9 points a game before tearing his ACL last December. He's expected to stay with the Magic, but his injury could limit him at the start of next season.
Quentin Grimes thrived after being traded from Dallas to Philadelphia at the deadline. He averaged 21. 9 points, 5. 2 rebounds, and 4. 5 assists a game for the 76ers. He's expected to re-sign with Philadelphia in the coming days.
Deandre Ayton has the talent to be at the top of this list, but his focus and off-court concerns have teams cool on the idea of having him in their locker room. He's been linked to the Lakers, but they haven't jumped at him yet.
Al Horford is a solid two-way player, but at age 37, he can't bring that for big minutes nightly. He's primarily been linked to the Lakers and Warriors, but another team with deep run playoff aspirations could emerge.
Russell Westbrook is still a game-changing player when he's at his best, but his decisions can be head-scratching when he's not. He averaged 13. 3 points and 6. 1 assists per game for the Nuggets last season and has been strongly linked to Sacramento.
Chris Paul is still an elite floor general and wants to play at least one more season, somewhere he can help a team win. He wants to be close to his family in Los Angeles again, which has sparked rumors of him reuniting with the Clippers, as well as the Suns.
Other names to watch include Spencer Dinwiddie, Chris Boucher, Amir Coffey, and Precious Achiuwa. Malik Beasley is not on this list due to an ongoing gambling investigation.
