As Alaska Airlines embarks on its new journey with the acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, the airline is shaking up its cargo division with a fresh set of leaders. Ian Morgan, a seasoned industry veteran, has been appointed as the vice president of cargo at Alaska Airlines. Morgan brings decades of experience working with large international cargo airlines, having spent time at Qatar Airways, Cargolux, British Airways, and Centurion Airlines.
Before joining Alaska Airlines, Morgan served as the U. S. commercial director for ECS Group, a cargo handling agency. In his new role, Morgan will be responsible for leading day-to-day cargo operations, managing nearly 600 cargo employees, and overseeing the continued growth of Alaska Air Group's cargo business, which is operated by both Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
Meanwhile, Jason Berry, the president of regional subsidiary Horizon Air, has been promoted to executive vice president of Alaska Air Group. Berry, who previously headed Air Canada's cargo division, will oversee the cargo business, bringing his expertise in international cargo operations and widebody freighter aircraft to the table. Berry will continue to serve as the president of Horizon Air.
The leadership changes come as Alaska Airlines prepares to support Amazon's growing e-commerce needs. With its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska Air Group has gained access to new aircraft and expertise, positioning it to better serve its customers and increase its cargo capacity.
