The Fithian Group, a new player in the film industry, is set to launch a digital marketplace called Attend in early 2025. This platform, backed by Vista Group, aims to connect independent filmmakers with cinema exhibitors in a more efficient way. The goal? To revive the shrinking theatrical market that's been struggling for two decades. Filmmakers like Sean Baker and Steven Soderbergh have already shown support, hoping Attend will make it easier to release films directly to theaters. The platform lets filmmakers list their movies, and exhibitors can search and find recommendations. It also handles the logistics of screening films. The Fithian Group believes this will help mid-range movies and international films find a bigger audience. They plan to use data to decide where and when to show films, hoping this will attract more viewers. Jackie Brenneman, a founding partner, sees this as a way to grow the business for everyone involved. Vista Group's Chief Film Officer, Simon Burton, agrees. He thinks this tech-driven approach will create new opportunities for filmmakers, exhibitors, and moviegoers. Many industry professionals have signed on to support Attend, seeing it as a vital step forward for the industry.
