Topeka is buzzing with fresh talent and dedicated leaders. FHLBank Topeka has welcomed five new team members, each bringing unique skills to the table. Di Kang, a PhD candidate, is diving into quantitative risk and modeling. Alex Nuss, formerly at Michel Dental, is now handling wires services. Samantha Watson, with experience from the state of Kansas, joins as an HCD analyst. Jenny Yu, previously at Himalaya Quantitative Solution, steps in as the director of model risk management and methods, also becoming a vice president. Luke Ziegler, an officer and capital markets trader, comes from Crowe LLP. Meanwhile, Stormont Vail Health has added Dr. Jenica Harwood to its Express Care team. Her journey into medicine started young, volunteering at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and watching athletic trainers. She believes everyone deserves quality healthcare, no matter their background. After earning her medical degree from The University of Kansas School of Medicine, she's ready to tackle anything from fractures to routine check-ups. Dr. Harwood wants patients to feel comfortable and encouraged to participate in their own health.
The Greater Topeka Partnership has also announced the 2026 Leadership Greater Topeka class. This program is all about challenging and inspiring leaders through training, projects, and community engagement. Participants will go through a two-day retreat, nine full-day sessions, and a graduation gala. The selected individuals will join a network of alumni committed to making Topeka and Shawnee County a great place to live and work. The class includes a mix of professionals from various fields. From school improvement specialists to realtors, and from bankers to healthcare directors, each brings something unique to the table. They'll spend the next few months learning, growing, and giving back to the community. It's clear that Topeka is thriving with new talent and dedicated leaders. These hires and honors show a community that's invested in its future.
