New Film House Sweetheart Entertainment

Cannes, FranceSat May 16 2026
Nicky Weinstock and Andrea Bucko have teamed up to create Sweetheart Entertainment, a fresh production company that debuted at Cannes while both had movies in the festival’s competition sections. Weinstock produced “Clarissa, ” shown in Directors’ Fortnight, and Bucko worked on James Gray’s “Paper Tiger. ” Both films were picked up by Neon. Weinstock brings a long track record to the partnership. He started Invention Studios, once led Red Hour Films with Ben Stiller, and served as EVP at Chernin Entertainment. His work includes the Apple TV+ series “Severance, ” the film “Dinner in America, ” and the Netflix drama “Thelma. ” Bucko’s recent projects feature her role as executive producer on Osgood Perkins’s “Longlegs, ” Gus Van Sant’s “Dead Man’s Wire, ” and Werner Herzog’s “Bucking Fastard” starring the Mara sisters.
“We see a world that needs fresh ideas and joy, ” Weinstock explained. “We’re excited to give writers and filmmakers a platform for bold, courageous work. ” He added that the duo now has both the chance and the resources to bring projects to life, calling it a fun new chapter. Bucko echoed that sentiment. “Sweetheart Entertainment will focus on films that linger after the credits, ” she said. “We want emotionally honest stories, striking visuals, and real human moments—whether it’s a thriller, drama, or something more offbeat. Our goal is to spark discussion and leave lasting feelings worldwide. ” Together, the founders aim to support storytellers who challenge norms and connect deeply with audiences. Sweetheart Entertainment plans to launch its first slate soon, promising a mix of daring narratives and heartfelt cinema.
