New Jersey is in for a wild weather ride this week. A big storm is heading in, bringing snow, rain, and some icy mix to different parts of the state. The National Weather Service has issued winter weather alerts for five counties: Sussex, Hunterdon, Morris, Warren, and parts of Passaic. The storm is expected to hit hardest on Tuesday, making the morning commute tricky for many.
Sussex County is bracing for the most snow, with 4 to 7 inches possible. That's a lot of shoveling! Other counties like Hunterdon, Morris, Warren, and northern Passaic can expect 1 to 5 inches. The storm will start as snow but quickly turn to rain as the day goes on. This mix of precipitation could make roads slippery and dangerous, especially during the morning rush.
Temperatures will vary across the state. Up north, it'll be in the mid-30s, while down south and along the coast, it might reach the mid-40s. Strong winds will add to the chill, making it feel even colder. By Tuesday evening, the storm will move out, but the cold will stick around. Overnight, temperatures will drop into the 20s, which could lead to black ice on the roads.
Wednesday will be a bit better, with sunny skies and highs in the 30s to low 40s. But don't get too comfortable—another cold front is coming on Thursday. This one will bring even colder temperatures, with lows dropping into the teens. Wind chills could make it feel like the single digits, so bundle up!
Friday will stay cold, with highs only in the upper 20s to low 30s. Another storm might hit Friday night into Saturday, but it's still unclear if it'll bring rain or snow. Either way, New Jersey is in for a chilly week.
