New Leader Takes the Helm of IFTA
A New Era for Independent Films
Paul Bales, a prominent figure in the indie film industry, has been appointed as the new chair of the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA). He succeeds Clay Epstein, who served admirably for the past four years.
A Veteran of the Film Scene
Bales brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Since 2006, he has been a key player at The Asylum, a studio renowned for its creative and often unconventional films like Sharknado. Prior to that, he worked with SAGIndie, supporting independent producers in bringing their visions to life.
Optimism Amidst Challenges
Despite the industry's current hurdles, Bales is optimistic. He believes that IFTA can drive meaningful change and is eager to collaborate with a team of passionate directors. His leadership is seen as a beacon of hope for the indie film community.
A Vote of Confidence
Jean Prewitt, the outgoing IFTA President and CEO, has expressed her confidence in Bales. She praises his deep industry knowledge and unwavering commitment to IFTA, qualities she believes will make him an exceptional leader as the organization navigates new challenges and opportunities.
Fresh Faces on the Board
The IFTA board has also welcomed seven new executives:
- Scott Bedno
- Shaked Berenson
- Scott Jones
- Chloé Marquet
- Delphine Perrier
- Lise Romanoff
- Michael Ryan
Their addition is expected to bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the table.
The Power of IFTA
IFTA is a cornerstone of the indie film world, representing film and TV companies globally. One of its most anticipated events, the American Film Market, is set to take place in Los Angeles this November.
With Bales at the helm and a strong team backing him, IFTA is poised to continue its mission of supporting and championing independent filmmakers worldwide.
