New Mexico Hospital Stops Care After Cyber Attack
A big hospital in New Mexico had to stop many services because of a hack. The problem showed up on Monday and the staff rushed to fix it. The cyber attack caused the hospital network to shut down its main entrance.
Doctors said people should not go to the main hospital in Albuquerque. Ambulances were sent to other hospitals for serious cases. More than thirty clinics stopped taking appointments. People were left without an emergency department that could handle the worst injuries. The hospital said it will notify patients as soon as it knows more.
The health system sees about nine hundred thousand outpatient visits each year. It also gets roughly one hundred thousand emergency room trips. It runs the only Level 1 trauma center in the state. That means it can treat the most severe injuries. The Level 1 center is the only one that can handle the most critical cases.
Officials said they are working hard to solve the issue. The exact size and type of the attack are still unclear. They hope to get everything back to normal soon. The team is working around the clock to get systems back online.
