New Ping Clubs Give a Fresh Boost to My Game
Arizona, Phoenix, USASun Apr 05 2026
Ping’s newest women‑specific line of clubs has taken my golf bag for a spin and, honestly, it’s made a big difference.
When I first tried the G Le3 set two and a half years ago, it felt like a game changer. It was lighter, easier to hit, and gave me more distance than my old clubs from 2015.
Fast forward to today: Ping released the G Le4s, and I was curious if technology alone could improve my shots even though I haven’t been practicing much.
I went back to Ping’s Proving Grounds in Phoenix and met James Lee, a friendly fitter who made the whole process feel relaxed. He had me warm up with my current set, then used a launch monitor to compare the new clubs.
The G Le4s bring several upgrades over the G Le3s. New loft options on longer clubs and a carbon‑based crown called Carbonfly Wrap let the club head sit higher in the swing, producing a lofted, longer ball flight.
The look is also a treat: the clubs shine with an iridescent “Galactic Lilac” finish that’s hard to capture in photos.
Because I usually hit from the forward tees and my swing is fairly flat, I rely heavily on hybrids and fairway woods. The new short‑iron hybrid options (especially the 7‑ and 8‑hybrid) fit my swing speed of about 67 mph, which is ideal for the G Le4 design.
Launch monitor data showed that my usual misses—often left‑handed pulls or drops—became much more controlled. I saw a 10‑yard increase in carry distance and a noticeable drop in shot dispersion.
The driver needed only a small tweak: lowering the default loft from 11. 5 to 10. 5 degrees added ball speed and more distance without sacrificing launch angle.
The set also includes three putters, but my “Louise” mid‑mallet remains the best match for my strong‑arc stroke. The updated version has a slightly larger face and a softer insert, which should help with short‑game consistency.
Overall, fitting for the G Le4s proved that newer technology can lift a player’s game even without extra practice. The clubs feel balanced, launch higher, and deliver more distance—all while keeping the same swing I’ve used for years.
