Disney+ has announced a new set of rules to crack down on password sharing, also known as "paid sharing. " The streaming giant is now enforcing a stricter policy on accounts accessed by individuals living outside of the primary Disney+ residence. This move comes as no surprise, as other streaming platforms like Netflix have also taken steps to curb password sharing.
The new policy allows only one extra member slot per account. This means that friends and family members will need to sign up for their own Disney+ subscription or be added as an Extra Member to the main account. The price for this additional service is $6. 99 a month for Disney+ basic and $9. 99 a month for premium.
If you decide to sign up for your own Disney+ subscription, your profile, watch history, and settings can be transferred. This makes it easy to continue enjoying your favorite shows and movies on the go. You can also watch Disney+ on supported devices without any issues.
However, there are some limitations to the Extra Member feature. For example, it's not available for Disney bundle subscribers or subscribers billed through partners. This means that you'll have to sign up for a separate Disney+ subscription if you're part of a bundle or have a partner plan.
To make things easier, Disney+ has added a few helpful features to its system. If you're on the go and you see the message "This TV doesn't seem to be part of the Household for this account," you can mark yourself as "I'M AWAY FROM HOME" or select "UPDATE HOUSEHOLD" if you've recently moved and need to reset your household location. These selections will require a one-time passcode sent to the email address associated with your account.
