Emil Kapaun, born in Kansas in 1916, served as a chaplain in both World War II and the Korean War. He was captured during the Korean War and died in a prisoner of war camp. His selfless acts during his captivity have been recognized as an "offering of life. Salvo D’Acquisto, born in Naples in 1920, was a member of the Italian Carabinieri during World War II. He also gave his life for others, and his actions have been recognized in the same category as Fr. Kapaun.
