New Shooting Hub Opens Doors for All
Hillsdale, MI, USAFri Mar 06 2026
Hillsdale College has added a brand‑new facility to its Halter Shooting Sports Center. The Nimrod Complex welcomes visitors during a two‑day open house on March 6 and 7.
The event runs from 4 to 8 p. m. on Friday and 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. on Saturday at the center’s address on Bankers Road, just southwest of Hillsdale.
Guests can try out archery and air‑gun ranges, enter raffles, learn about membership plans, and browse the Liberty & Co. Pro Shop.
The complex is built for precision. It has 60 lanes for indoor 10‑meter shooting, 20 lanes for indoor archery at 25 meters, and 24 lanes that work both indoors and outdoors for small‑bore rifles. It also offers 12 retractable pistol lanes that cover both indoor and outdoor use at 50 feet.
A classroom can seat up to 24 students for concealed‑pistol courses, while a main room holds 300 people.
Team storage and a mezzanine view deck give athletes extra space and a good perspective on the ranges.
Hillsdale says the new hub will support students’ shooting classes and give athletes a place to train when weather blocks outdoor fields. The goal is to share the college’s values with those beyond campus, teaching about smart patriotism and rights under the Second Amendment.
The Halter Center itself covers 125 acres of range land, five miles from campus. It includes skeet fields, sporting clays, trap stations, bunkers, and a climate‑controlled range.
A 62, 000‑square‑foot indoor/outdoor rifle and pistol area ties it all together.
The site also offers a lodge, grill, and cottages for food and overnight stays.
Since 2008 the center has hosted national shooting teams, including the USA Shooting National Team since 2019. It hosts major skeet and trap championships, Junior Olympic camps, and houses Hillsdale’s own championship teams.
Open to the public, it offers yearly memberships and programs that blend shooting skills with constitutional education.
