New Thriller Partnership Fires Up

New York City, USATue Mar 03 2026
The Dazey Phase, a New York‑based company that handles production, sales and distribution, has teamed up with Bahamian filmmaker Kareem J. Mortimer on his next psychological thriller called House On Fire. The collaboration brings together Jake Casey, co‑head of Dazey Phase, who will also serve as a production partner, and Tai Duncan, who joins the project as a producer. House On Fire promises to be a tense and emotionally driven story that looks at generational trauma, power relationships and the small cracks that explode when past experiences clash. It is part of Best Yet Entertainment’s slate, a company founded in 2020 by Mortimer, Trevite Willis and Julia Woolley Chatwin that operates out of Los Angeles and the Caribbean. Best Yet’s earlier work includes Kidnapping Inc. , a Haitian film that was submitted for the 2026 Oscars, and To Live and Die and Live, a Qasim Basir film that opened at Sundance in 2023.
Mortimer explains that this film fits his passion for thriller stories that carry depth and real‑world insight, and characters whose inner lives are as intense as their outward actions. He has already worked on projects such as Children of God, Cargo and This is Paradise. The Dazey Phase, founded by siblings Jake and Eva Casey with business strategy led by Danielle Benedict, focuses on inclusive storytelling across scripted and nonfiction formats. Jake Casey praised Mortimer’s clear and bold voice, noting that House On Fire matches the company’s goal of producing stories that challenge viewers, reflect lived experiences and leave a lasting impression. The film is still in development; funding is being secured and shooting is planned for late spring to early summer. Casting details and more creative talent will be announced in early 2026.
