The wait for Air New Zealand's new business class will continue until 2025, as the airline faces global supply chain challenges. The delays are due to the complexity of the Boeing 787 refit program, which aims to transform the airline's long-haul travel experience. The first refurbished aircraft won't arrive until mid-October, and it won't be on the non-stop Auckland-New York route, but rather on any long-haul and short-haul route.
Air New Zealand's new business class, dubbed Business Premier, will feature 42 seats across two cabins with the first row offering four Business Premier Luxe suites. These suites will have sliding partitions and a companion seat for extra space and comfort. The business class cabins will also have 24-inch video screens, wireless charging, and a storage cabinet. The airline has scrapped the old "sleeper shells" for a more conventional layout, offering greater privacy and creature comforts.
The Business Premier Luxe suites will be reserved for those willing to spend extra for more space and comfort. The Luxe suites will have the same dining experience as standard business class, showcasing fresh locally-sourced ingredients. The airline has decided against adding amenities like a mini-bar or personal wardrobe, as passengers have requested more space instead.
