This isn't the same union led by Bob Goodenow anymore; it's more engaged and open to dialogue. The relationship between the NHL and NHLPA has improved significantly, with both sides being more cooperative. The current leaders, Marty Walsh and Ron Hainsey, have fostered a healthier atmosphere, working closely with Gary Bettman and Bill Daly.
