Nintendo Switch 2 Gets Its First DLSS Game
Mon Apr 21 2025
Nintendo Switch 2 is making waves with its first game to use NVIDIA DLSS. This tech is designed to boost performance and image quality. The game in question is Cyberpunk 2077. It will be the first to use this tech on the new console.
The news came from a tech podcast. They got official word from the game's developers. The developers confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will use a version of DLSS on the Switch 2. This version is tailored for the console's hardware, which includes Tensor Cores.
DLSS will be active in all four display modes. These modes include docked Quality and Performance, and handheld Quality and Performance. The goal is to make the game run smoothly on the new console.
The tech experts went back to the available footage. They looked for signs of DLSS being used. However, the low post-processing quality made it hard to spot. Upon closer inspection, some DLSS "edges" were found. These edges show that the upscaler is in use.
The developers also shared details about the resolution targets. All modes aim for 1080p, except for handheld Performance mode. That mode targets 720p. Dynamic resolution scaling is in place. This means the scaling can range from 2x and up per axis. For 1080p modes, the range is 540p to 1080p. For handheld Performance mode, it's 360p to 720p.
Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5th. This is the same day the console hits the market in most regions. The game is also available on other platforms. These include PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One.
