Nintendo's Switch Game Vouchers: A Farewell to Savings
Thu Jul 10 2025
Nintendo has decided to say goodbye to its Switch game vouchers. This program, which helped Switch Online members save money on digital games, will stop on January 30th, 2026.
The vouchers, introduced in 2019, allowed members to buy two vouchers for $99. 98. These could be used to get two eligible games, each usually priced at $59. 99. This meant a saving of about $10 on each game.
But there's a catch. Players won't be able to buy new vouchers after the deadline. However, any vouchers bought before then can still be used until they expire, which is one year after purchase.
Nintendo has said it will keep adding games to the eligible list until next year. But what about the future? Will Nintendo come up with another way to help players save money on Switch 2 games, like the $79. 99 Mario Kart World? Only time will tell.
This isn't the first time Nintendo has ended a savings program. It also stopped its My Nintendo Gold Points loyalty program in March. This program let players earn points from buying games and use them to get discounts on digital purchases.
So, what does this mean for players? It might mean paying full price for digital games in the future. But who knows? Nintendo might have something else up its sleeve.
