No Alec Baldwin at Rust Premiere in Poland
Torun, PolandThu Nov 21 2024
The Western movie "Rust, " which stars Alec Baldwin, had its global debut at the EnergaCamerimage film festival in Poland. But the actor wasn't there. Festival director Kazimierz Suwała said inviting Baldwin would've been too much of a distraction. They wanted to focus on honoring the film's late cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins.
In October 2021, Hutchins, a rising talent in the film industry, died during a rehearsal on the "Rust" set. Baldwin was handling a gun that went off, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. Baldwin was charged with manslaughter, but the case was later dismissed.
Baldwin wasn't invited to the premiere, and his presence would've been a big distraction. Instead, the festival honored Hutchins with a moment of silence. Her family and Baldwin didn't attend the event. Hutchins' mother, Olga Solovey, said she couldn't watch the movie because she blames Baldwin for her daughter's death.
It's not sure if anyone will profit from the movie. It might come out in the U. S. , but no one knows when or where. The audience at the premiere reacted politely. Some left before the credits ended. People might watch the movie out of curiosity.
