Non-Tech Stocks That Soared in 2024
Texas, USAWed Jan 01 2025
2024 was a big year for the stock market, with tech giants like Nvidia leading the way. But tech wasn't the only sector making waves. Companies outside of tech had some impressive performances too. Let's take a look at some of the standout non-tech stocks of the year.
Vistra, a Texas-based power company, was one of the biggest winners. With six reactors under its belt, Vistra benefited from the AI data center boom. Tech companies were scrambling for clean energy, and Vistra was in the right place at the right time. Its stock jumped nearly 258% last year, and analysts are still bullish on it.
Texas Pacific Land, another Texas-based company, also saw its stock price double. This landowner has a lot of land in West Texas, including the Permian Basin. With tech companies looking to set up data centers in less regulated areas, Texas Pacific Land is in a great position to lease out land.
The airline industry was also on the rebound. United Airlines saw a big boost in travel demand as the world recovered from the pandemic. The company plans to add new international routes in 2025, which has analysts excited about its future prospects.
Walmart had a strong year too. Despite some criticism on social media, the retail giant remained a popular choice for shoppers during a time of high inflation. Its commitment to value helped drive up sales and its stock price.
Deckers Outdoor, the company behind the popular Hoka shoe brand, also had a great year. The brand's popularity helped push the stock up by 82. 3%.
