Obesity Hotspot in Hawtat Bani Tamim: What the Numbers Reveal
Hawtat Bani Tamim, Saudi ArabiaSat Nov 07 2026
A new study looked at obesity in Hawtat Bani Tamim, Saudi Arabia. It surveyed 384 adults living there. The researchers found that 28.9% of people in the area were obese. This gives us a clear picture of how common the problem is in this specific community.
Several factors stood out as making obesity more likely. People between 41 and 50 years old had higher odds. Those in their 51-60 age range were even more likely. Being male also increased risk. Lower education levels showed a strong link. Getting less than eight hours of sleep mattered. Smoking and not staying active were also risk factors. High blood pressure added to the picture. Interestingly, doing moderate exercise actually lowered the risk.
Some things didn't matter much. Where people lived, whether they were married, what their jobs were, or what they ate most, didn't show a clear connection to obesity. The study suggests we need focused public health actions. Targeted policies could help lower these rates and keep people healthier.
