There is a lot of buzz around the film industry. A classic film is making waves again. The 20th anniversary rerelease of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith has taken the box office by storm. It earned $3. 4 million in just one day. This is a big deal because it beat out two new releases. The first is Ben Affleck's new action-thriller The Accountant 2. It made $2. 5 million in previews. The second is the film Sinners.
The weekend box office is shaping up to be interesting. Revenge of the Sith could make a big splash. It might even challenge Sinners and The Accountant 2. Both of these films are expected to bring in between $20 million and $25 million over the weekend. Sinners has been a huge hit so far. It has great reviews and high audience scores. It opened with $48 million over Easter weekend. It even topped another big film, A Minecraft Movie. The Accountant 2 has also been doing well. It has a fresh 76 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. The first Accountant film was a big success. It grossed $155. 5 million globally and was the most-rented digital film in 2017.
The Accountant 2 is an action-packed thriller. It stars Ben Affleck and a talented cast. The film follows Affleck's character as he solves a murder with the help of his brother and a U. S. Treasury agent. They uncover a dangerous conspiracy and become targets of ruthless killers. The film premiered at SXSW and won the audience award. It is rated R, along with Sinners and Until Dawn, a new horror film from Screen Gem and Sony. Until Dawn made $1 million in Thursday previews. It is expected to have a modest opening weekend.
Revenge of the Sith has a unique advantage. It appeals to both families and fans of the Star Wars franchise. This could give it an edge over the other films. The rerelease of other Star Wars films has also done well. The Phantom Menace earned $8. 7 million in its opening weekend. Return of the Jedi grossed $5. 1 million. These numbers show that there is still a lot of love for the Star Wars series. It will be interesting to see how Revenge of the Sith performs over the weekend.
