One ticket cost $17, 000 to watch the big basketball showdown

Indianapolis, USATue Apr 07 2026
A single ticket for Monday night’s NCAA championship game just sold for over seventeen grand. That’s a lot to pay for a seat—even for a game this big. The buyer used SeatGeek, one of the biggest ticket platforms out there. Last year’s game drew big crowds too, but prices this time jumped about twenty percent higher. The game features the Connecticut Huskies and the Michigan Wolverines. Michigan hasn’t won a national title in nearly four decades. That long dry spell makes every matchup feel like a possible turning point. UConn, meanwhile, is on the rise under head coach Dan Hurley, chasing another championship to extend their modern-era success.
Ticket buyers aren’t spread evenly across the country. About one in four tickets went to Michigan fans, even though many are already cramming into bars in Ann Arbor to watch the game together. By contrast, just two percent of tickets went to fans from Connecticut. Most UConn supporters seem to be planning to stay close to home—either in the Tri-State area or right on the Storrs campus. Local celebrations are already being organized, with extra security and even light poles removed to make room for fans.
