This: 271 people, all gathered in the Dr. Phillips CineDome of the Orlando Science Center with one mission – to launch paper rockets simultaneously. This wasn't just a fun activity; it was a world record attempt! The goal was to get 250 rockets airborne at the same time. How did they do it? Each person got three chances to launch their rocket within 15 seconds. And guess what? They smashed the goal with 262 successful launches!
But wait, there's a catch. For the record, the rockets had to be made entirely of paper and fit onto a straw. When you blew through the straw, the rocket had to fly either vertically or horizontally. Nine rockets didn't make the cut because they didn't fly as required.
A Guinness World Records adjudicator was there to make sure everything was by the book. The science center planned this event to tie in with their Science of Guinness World Records exhibition, which is running until January 6.
