In the quiet night of Dec. 27, Palos Hills saw a surge in car burglaries. Seven vehicles fell victim to thieves, with items like GPS devices, cell phones, and even a child's stuffed toy being taken. Most of the break-ins happened in community parking lots of apartment and condo complexes, but one car was stolen from a private driveway.
On the 8500 block of 99th Terrace, two cars were hit. One had its window broken, with perfume and a cell phone stolen. The other car's window was also smashed, and a GPS unit was taken.
Over on the 10200 block of 86th Terrace, another car window was smashed, but it's unclear if anything was stolen. On the 8500 block of 103rd Terrace, a wallet was taken from a vehicle in a community lot.
In a different spot, on the 9900 block of South Hill Terrace, $100 cash was stolen from a car. Two cars parked on driveways also had their windows broken. On the 10000 block of 86th Court, clothing and a child's stuffed toy were taken.
It's uncertain if these incidents are connected.
