Paramount+ Drops Showtime from Top Tier Plan
USATue Jun 24 2025
Paramount Global has made a subtle but significant change to its streaming service. The company has removed "Showtime" from the name of its highest-tier plan. Now, instead of "Paramount+ With Showtime, " it's simply called "Paramount+ Premium. " The price tag stays the same, though: $12. 99 monthly or $119. 99 annually.
This isn't the first time Paramount+ has shuffled its plans. Last summer, they introduced the "Paramount+ With Showtime" package, signaling the eventual shutdown of the standalone Showtime streaming service, which happened in April 2024. Now, just two years later, the Showtime name is being phased out from Paramount+.
The company explained the change, saying that since Showtime content is now available on the basic plan, the Premium plan's name should reflect the broader range of shows and movies across both tiers. They assured fans that Showtime programming is still a big part of Paramount+ and will continue to be prominently featured.
So, what's included in Paramount+ Premium? Plenty. Subscribers get the full lineup of Showtime originals like "Dexter: Original Sin, " "Yellowjackets, " and "The Chi. " They also get live feeds of Showtime East and West, plus CBS News 24/7, CBS Sports HQ, and Mixible for news and pop culture.
Interestingly, this move comes as Warner Bros. Discovery is doing the opposite. They're bringing back the HBO name to their Max streamer, which will become HBO Max again this summer. The goal? To highlight their unique content for adults and families.
Here's where it might get confusing: the name of the Paramount+ With Showtime linear TV network on cable, satellite, and streaming services like Hulu with Live TV won't be changing. So, while the streaming plan is dropping "Showtime" from its name, the TV network will keep it.
Paramount also noted that some customers might not see the name change right away, depending on their device. But they promised that if you sign up for the Premium plan while it's still called "Paramount+ With Showtime, " your benefits won't be affected.
