In the past year, classrooms have seen a surge of AI tools designed to personalize learning and support students. Now, parents are noticing this shift too. A recent survey by Samsung Solve for Tomorrow found that 88% of US parents think understanding AI is crucial for their kids' future education and careers. However, 81% aren't sure if AI is even part of their children's curriculum. This shows a big difference between what parents want and what they know about AI in schools.
The survey talked to over 1,000 US parents of Gen Alpha and Gen Z students to see how AI is used and taught. It showed that there's an urgent need for more education about AI for both students and teachers. Most parents (84%) think it’s important for teachers to get extra training on using AI in the classroom.
Parents are excited about AI helping with content creation (69%), answering questions (72%), and creating real-world scenarios in class (70%). But, only 19% of parents say their child's school uses AI, and many don’t know how it’s being used.
To make sure everyone can use AI well, it’s important for students, teachers, and parents to understand how AI is changing education. Programs like Samsung Solve for Tomorrow help with this.
