The US has decided to lower the extra charges on Italian pasta. This move comes after a lot of people complained about the high cost of living. The US had accused some Italian pasta companies of selling their products too cheaply in America. But now, the extra charges have been reduced from a huge 92% to a much smaller range of 2% to 14%. The US government did not say anything when asked about this change. The White House has already lowered some other charges on food items because people were worried about the high prices. The new charges on pasta were supposed to start this month. But now, they have been reduced.
The Italian government said the US decided to lower the charges after looking at the pasta companies' operations. For example, the charge for one brand, La Molisana, was reduced to just 2. 26%. Another brand, Garofalo, will now face a charge of 13. 98%. The rest of the companies will have a charge of 9. 09%. This change happened just after the US decided to delay increasing charges on furniture and kitchen items for another year. The US said they are still talking to their trade partners and will not increase the charges for now. The Italian government is happy with this change. They said it shows that the US understands that the Italian companies were willing to work with them. The US is expected to finish their investigation into the pasta companies in March.
