In a recent Monday night game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes experienced a setback when he hurt his ankle while scoring a touchdown. Despite the pain, Mahomes decided to stay in the game and reassured everyone he was fine. "It was a bit scary, " Mahomes admitted. The same ankle he had twisted the previous week started hurting again. But after taking a moment to calm down, he realized it wasn't too serious. Mahomes had to persuade both the team trainers and Coach Andy Reid that he was fit to continue playing. Reid initially planned to replace him with backup quarterback Carson Wentz, but Mahomes insisted he could keep going. Injuries are always concerning when they happen, Mahomes explained. He expected his ankle to swell up during the week but believed he'd be ready for the next game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
