Penn State Players Bring Cheer to Children’s Hospital
Derry Township, PA, USAThu Jun 25 2026
The football squad from Penn State traveled once again from State College to the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Derry Township.
This visit is part of a yearly tradition that started when the former coach was in charge.
Now, with Matt Campbell at the helm for his first season, the team wanted to keep that spirit alive.
Campbell said the trip matters a lot for the players.
He explained that since January, they have been learning how wearing their uniform can make a difference for others.
Seeing the kids and families in the hospital reminded them that their jerseys carry more than just a logo.
The coach praised the positive impact the team can have on patients’ lives.
He noted that playing for Penn State is a privilege that goes beyond the field.
The players felt proud to represent their school in such a meaningful way.
The hospital visit also helps the team bond outside of practice.
Players share stories and laughs, strengthening their teamwork on the field.
They also gain perspective by meeting people who face daily challenges.
Overall, the trip reinforces a long‑standing Penn State tradition of giving back to the community.
It shows that athletes can use their platform for good, not just winning games.
